How it Works: A typical schedule
A Fit 4 Reading session (60 minutes)
* Yr 7 and Yr 10 students arrive at 8 am in PE Kit.
* Yr 10 organise a fun sports-based activity for Yr 7 in the gym [20 mins]. A PE teacher supervises Year 10-led gym activity.
* Students have breakfast together [20 mins]. A member of staff supervises breakfast and reading coaching. This is often a Teaching Assistant or the librarian.
* Yr 10 Reading Coaches hear Yr 7 read one-to-one [20 mins].
* Y7 Registration is taken by the Y10 students. Tutor time/form time is replaced by Fit 4 Reading programme.
* Students go from Fit 4 Reading to Lesson 1.
Training
* We train Y10 to be reading coaches online via Zoom. Training takes 3 hours 30 minutes, including breaks.
* Pupils can either join the training via a desktop or laptop, or the training can be presented on an interactive whiteboard.
* We provide access to a digital copy of all resources, ready to be printed.
* An English teacher facilitates the training. This is usually the teacher who will deliver training in the future, using our model.
How much does the training cost?
The training costs £495 (No VAT). This is a one-off fee.
The school is provided with a licence to train future reading coaches, using the resources we provide.
The training includes:
* 3 hours 30 minutes training of up to 20 reading coaches.
Digital copies of:
* Training slides.
* Coach's Training Booklet.
* Coach's Handbook.
* Teacher's Notes.
* Reading Record book.
* Attendance register templates.
* Certificates for Reading Coaches, Y7 readers and a School Certificate.
* Metal 'Reading Coach' badges for first training delivery.
* Unlimited support via email.
I'd like to go ahead. What do I need to do now?
* Make payment via our checkout or request an invoice for your school. The cost of the training, the Fit 4 Reading handbook and document templates is £495.

* Choose up to 20 Year 10 students from GCSE PE and/or sports' leaders.
* When we receive payment, we will contact you to arrange onlinetraining for the Year 10 reading coaches. We will need 3-4 hours, an English teacher to facilitate the training, and either an interactive whiteboard to deliver the training or access for the students to an individual desktop or laptop.
* Identify incoming Year 7 students who will join Fit 4 Reading in 2024-25.
